Hockey Skate Care
Proper care for hockey skates is essential to ensuring the longevity and performance of your skates. Here are some tips to consider:
- Dry your skates after each use to prevent rust and other damage. Wipe the blades and the inside of the skates with a towel.
- Store your hockey skates in a cool, dry place to prevent warping and other damage. Do not store them in direct sunlight or near heat sources.
- Regularly sharpen your skates to keep them working properly on the ice. If your skates are not properly sharpened, your feet may slip when you push off. Most players should sharpen their hockey skates every 8-10 hours they are on the ice. Hockey skates should be transported in blade covers (the blades are wiped dry beforehand). When you move around on your skates outside the rink, it is better to do this in special blade covers, then the sharpness of the blades will be preserved longer.
- Regularly check the screws and other fasteners on the skates to make sure they are tightened and securely fastened.
